ON KNOZONE AIR QUALITY ACTION DAYS (KAQADs), OUR BUSINESS WILL COMMIT TO:
• E-mail alerts to employees the day before a predicted KAQAD
• Post notice in a conspicuous place on company property the day before a KAQAD
• Promote and encourage employees to implement Knozone Actions during KAQADs
• (If our business has a drive-thru window), provide incentives for customers to park and come inside instead on KAQADs
• Make work assignments with air quality impacts in mind during KAQADs
• Limit or discontinue non-essential air pollution producing operations where possible on KAQADs
OUR BUSINESS WILL COMMIT TO THE FOLLOWING KNOZONE PROGRAM SUPPORT:
• Make a donation to the Knozone Program of $500
• Make a donation to the Knozone Program of $1,000
• Make a donation to the Knozone Program of $2,000
• Other Amount:
• Publish at least two ready-to-run articles about air quality issues in our company newsletter each year
• Encourage vehicles making deliveries at our facilities to reduce vehicle idling by posting "Idle Free Zone" signs (signs will be provided)
• Actively encourage other local businesses to participate in the partnership
OUR BUSINESS WILL MAKE THE FOLLOWING FLEET COMMITMENTS:
• Create and implement a vehicle idling reduction policy
• Retrofit some or all of our older diesel powered vehicles with DOCs
• Service fleet vehicles regularly
• Implement a fleet refueling policy so fuel is pumped at the end of the day during summer months
• Commit to using alternative fuels in at least a portion of our vehicles for at least three years
• Commit to purchasing new alternative fuel vehicles when additions to our fleet become necessary
• Evaluate the feasibility of anti-idling and other fuel-saving technology for my fleet of trucks
OUR BUSINESS WILL MAKE THE FOLLOWING EMPLOYEE COMMUTING COMMITMENTS:
• Consider setting up pre-tax savings accounts for transit and carpooling expenses
• Appoint an Employee Transportation Coordinator who will be a liaison between Central Indiana Commuter Services (CICS) and our employees
• Host a CICS commuting fair for employees to provide information about commuting options through IndyGo and CICS
• Encourage carpooling by offering employee incentives
• Encourage biking to work by providing bike racks
• Offer one or more of the following flexible daily work scheduling options to employees: telework, flextime or a compressed work week
OUR BUSINESS WILL MAKE THE FOLLOWING ENERGY SAVINGS COMMITMENTS:
• Perform a comprehensive energy audit of our facility to target potential energy savings
• Draft and implement an energy conservation plan for our company
• Incorporate "green building" and energy conservation principles into any new or retrofit construction at our facilities
• Accept the U.S. EPA's offer to become an Energy Star Partner
